The Witness Assistance Service is a part of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and is staffed by professionally qualified workers. WAS provides a range of services to meet the needs of victims of crime and witnesses appearing in court matters prosecuted by the DPP. The Service aims to reduce the trauma to crime victims.

Victims of Crime NT is a community based organisation, funded by the Northern Territory Government, to assist victims of crime.

Queensland
The Legal Aid Queensland website contains information about the law, lawyers and the justice system in Queensland.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, provides information and referral services for victims of violent crime through its Victim Liaison Officers, and supplies written information about the legal process to victims of violent crime.
The Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General has a factsheet on Criminal Injury Compensation on its website and this includes information about counselling and support provided by the Victims of Crime Association (VOCA). VOCA can be contacted on 1300 733 777.
