Two day short course for community (frontline) workers

This 2 day workshop provides valuable training for frontline staff working to support adult survivors of child abuse with complex need. The training will assist workers to engage more effectively with individuals who may (or may not) have disclosed childhood abuse but who present with complex social and mental health needs such as: risk of suicide; self-harm; chaotic lifestyle; drug and alcohol abuse; sexual dysfunction; relationship and parenting issues, etc. The aim of the training is to provide participants with current information about the causes of a broad spectrum of mental and physical health issues adult survivors of childhood abuse experience.

The course will provide information about the dynamics of childhood abuse and enable participants to make sense of the context in which problems developed.

The course has been developed by ASCA (Adults Surviving Child Abuse) in collaboration with MHCC. ASCA trainer Mirna Tarabay will be presenting the workshop, along with MHCC’s Trevor Hobday. Workshop material covered includes:

• The Dynamics of abuse
