Fact Sheet - Workers

This fact sheet raises awareness around anyone presenting to or working in any service that may have lived an experience of trauma. It is intended for anyone working in any service setting.

The fact sheet educates about the effects of trauma on the brain, biological responses to stress and how a history of childhood trauma or abuse (complex trauma) can affect people.

This fact sheet focuses on how incorporating the 5 principles of trauma informed practice:

  • safety
  • trustworthiness
  • choice
  • collaboration
  • empowerment

can benefit not only clients with a trauma history but everyone in a service and the service itself.

By focusing on what happened to someone rather than what is wrong with someone, any service can have better outcomes for all.
